About the Role

Innchair Solutions Limited is looking for an experienced Upholstery Supervisor to join our furniture manufacturing and upholstery team at our workshop in Higham, Kent.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-quality upholstery work while also supervising day-to-day upholstery activities within the workshop. This is a hands-on position requiring strong technical upholstery skills, attention to detail and the ability to organise and support a production team.

The role will involve working on a variety of commercial and contract furniture projects, including bespoke seating, banquette seating, chairs, sofas and other upholstered furniture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out high-quality upholstery work on commercial and bespoke furniture.
  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day upholstery activities within the workshop.
  • Read and interpret furniture designs, drawings, measurements and specifications.
  • Measure, cut and prepare upholstery fabrics, vinyl, leather and other covering materials.
  • Carry out upholstery, re-upholstery, trimming and finishing work to a high standard.
  • Work on chairs, sofas, banquette seating, booths and other upholstered furniture.
  • Inspect completed upholstery work and ensure that quality standards are maintained.
  • Identify and rectify defects or finishing issues before products leave the workshop.
  • Allocate and organise upholstery tasks to support production schedules.
  • Provide practical guidance and support to other upholstery team members.
  • Ensure materials and tools are used efficiently and minimise material wastage.
  • Work closely with the production and furniture manufacturing teams.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop environment.
  • Follow company health and safety procedures and workshop requirements.
  • Assist with resolving technical upholstery and production issues.

Essential Skills & Experience

The successful candidate should have:

  • Significant professional experience in upholstery and furniture production.
  • Strong practical knowledge of upholstery techniques and processes.
  • Experience working with fabrics, vinyl, leather, foam and other upholstery materials.
  • Ability to measure, cut, fit and finish upholstery materials accurately.
  • Experience working with commercial, contract or bespoke furniture is desirable.
  • Good understanding of furniture construction and upholstery finishing.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
  • Ability to supervise, organise and support other workshop staff.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work to production deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
